Biography
Stephen Uden is a fourteen year Microsoft veteran dedicated to ensuring that Microsoft makes a contribution to the creation of economic opportunity for the UK through the use of IT and its network of 30,000 IT partner companies.
Stephen manages Microsoft’s skills programmes within formal education, workforce development, IT industry and wider society. He was the architect of Britain Works, Microsoft’s 3 year initiative to help 500,000 people into work through computer skills, IT apprenticeships and support for back-to-work charities.
A mathematician by training, he has a long-standing interest in the importance of building the UK’s STEM capacity through skills, education, innovation and regional economic development and is a regular speaker and commentator on these subjects. He is a member of the Foundation Degree Forward Management Board and the CBI Education and Skills Committee.
