Biography

John served as a RAF Fast Jet Pilot and joined local government in 1977. He was Director of Community & Leisure Services for Swindon Unitary Council until appointed CEO of Citizens Online (2000).

Other achievements include being a Panel member for National Audit Office – e-Services for Older People, adviser to Government ministers, for EU e-Inclusion Summits (Crete 2003, Riga 2006, Lisbon 2007,Vienna 2008) member of No 10 Digital Inclusion Panel, joint author of "Digital Equality", contributor to Digital Inclusion Action Plan 2008 & Digital Britain 2009, Digital Challenge board member, member of EU Internet Youth Protection Round Table, chair of Internet Service Providers Awards Panel.

John is also a member of more advisory bodies and talking shops than you can throw a stone at! Hobbies include golf and restoring a Victorian pile (of stones) in the Cotswolds.
