Digital technology has become part of the fabric of everyday life offering endless opportunities in business, communication, education, entertainment and healthcare. While the majority of the population is reaping the benefits that digital technology brings, a significant part of society is not due to lack of skill, access or understanding.
Digital exclusion leads to a number of significant social disadvantages – an issue that needs to be addressed if we are ever to achieve a truly 'Digital Britain'.
IT in the Community aims to create a blueprint for a digitally enabled future. This two-day conference brings together leaders in technology and practitioners in digital inclusion to focus on how we bridge this digital divide by enabling communities to engage with digital technology.
IT in the Community 2009 promises an inspirational and engaging programme. Attendees can expect to:
- See and hear about the latest digital and enabling technologies
- Gain practical knowledge leading practitioners on how to tackle digital exclusion
- Learn how the integration of technology can lead to an empowered community, a highly skilled workforce and a thriving economy
